Companion Series

Mobile Library Bedside

Time: 2018 onwards

Stage: prototyping

Material: reclaimed floor board, MDF, brass screw, FLOS Glo-Ball Light

The experimental process started from trying to deal with the annoying leftover wood board. We came up with the idea of creating some functional companions for life instead of conventional furniture. Like nomad life’s furniture, the pieces are made to be used in multiple ways and spaces.

The process is also an experience of dealing with the limits of the material in quantity and character.

After testing the ideas with the beginning #1 #2, the intention grows to the rolling out to more materials - plywood, solid wood, stone.

#1 Mobile Library Bedside

We create functional companions for life not just furniture. They are meaningful and practical. A pair of playful multi-uses structure. The design initiated from exploring the limit of leftover floor boards also celebrating the famous lighting design piece. The light happily dwelling in the furniture like a bubble being squeezed form the holes.

Under the bubble-like light are the holes beyond bubble, more holes beyond the holes.
