Design Philosophy:

The Re-Imagining Railway Stations competition is the opportunity to define a new generation of the railway station. To create a station system that can be adaptable and flexible to effect urban repair and facilitate better community connections.

The station of the future needs to be more than a station and utilise space and land available to become a type of social infrastructure to serve the wider community.

We treat the station as the primary jewel in a necklace of elements to facilitate connections and create a sense of attraction and vibrancy around the station and its environment, to elevate the station beyond infrastructure.

The design is also about creating an identity and character that is more than just a kit of parts but a coherent whole.

It is the kind of station Michael Portillo would love to visit.
